1-Page Summary of The Science of Getting Rich

Overview

How do people get what they want? How do they even know what they want? Do you, the reader, know how to answer these questions? We all have different desires, but we still share a desire for growth and abundance.

Most of the time, we think that our desires are constrained by resources such as money and time. However, it’s possible to create unlimited amounts of those things if you learn how to think in a certain way. The author believes this and offers examples on why competition isn’t effective for happiness; why cultivating an attitude of gratitude is important; and how all the necessary resources for a happy life are well within your reach.

Big Idea #1: To live a full life, you must nurture your mind, body and soul, and this requires material wealth.

Everyone wants to be rich. People who don’t have money want it, and people who do have it worry about losing it. Some may try to put this desire for wealth in a bad light, but actually, it’s only natural.

To live a happy and successful life, you need to nurture your mind, body and soul equally. To do that, you require certain material goods.

For instance, you can’t celebrate your body fully if you don’t have good food and comfortable clothing. You also can’t enjoy your mind without books and education. Finally, you can’t celebrate your soul without love or the ability to demonstrate that love through material gifts. If someone has nothing to give, they won’t be able to experience relationships in their fullest potential. Therefore, how do we get rich enough so that we’re able to nurture our bodies, minds and souls?

The author starts by saying that people don’t become rich because of their talent or family background. In fact, some of the richest people in the world are self-made millionaires. He then goes on to say that some think there isn’t enough wealth for everyone to be rich, but this is not true either. This is because everything in nature is made up of a substance called Original Substance (OS). The different elements we see around us are just different manifestations of OS and it’s always regenerating itself so our natural resources will never run out.

Since there is an abundance of resources, humans want to collect and experience more things. Since everyone has the right to be rich, they can do so by understanding their power and using it effectively.

Big Idea #2: Thoughts are the primary source of creation, but gratitude is what keeps it going.

The first step to getting rich is probably buying stocks. I’m not sure about that, though.

The first step is more fundamental, though. It begins with your thoughts. Thoughts are everywhere and you can impress them on the Original Substance to cause an object of your thought to be created.

The universe was created by thought. Everything that is perceived in nature can be traced back to a thought, including the sky and space. That’s why you can create anything you want through your thoughts. Remember that God wants you to become rich so that you can help others as well. You’re not here to compete with other people; rather, your goal should be to get what you want while helping everyone else at the same time. For instance, musicians need good instruments in order for them to make great music and inspire their listeners as well.

Although he believes in Original Substance, it’s not enough to just believe. You also need to live by the Law of Gratitude. The more grateful you are for the substance and its gifts, the more you’ll attract good things in your life.

If you are a talented musician but can’t afford to buy a new guitar, be grateful for the one you have. Know that in time, your talent will be recognized and greater opportunities will come your way.
