Michael Eisner and Frank Wells

Michael Eisner was approached by Disney to become their CEO. He had previously worked as the president of Paramount Pictures and then Twentieth-Century Fox, but his future at those companies was uncertain because of management changes. Frank Wells, who had been the head of Warner Bros., quit that position to climb mountains in an attempt to scale Mount Everest. When he got the offer from Disney, Eisner insisted on being sole CEO rather than share power with anyone else. To his surprise, Wells accepted that condition and offered himself up for a role as COO (Chief Operating Officer). This partnership would humble him more than he could have ever imagined.

Michael Eisner and Frank Wells were both very creative people who had a lot of crazy ideas. However, they also understood the importance of teamwork in order to be successful. They brought that same spirit to Disney when they were hired there. It was important for them to keep an open mind and listen to everyone’s ideas, no matter how wild or crazy they might have seemed at first glance.
